500g Beef Fillet cut and flattened into 100g pieces
1 whole head of garlic finely chopped
Fresh thyme
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup red wine
Salt
Black pepper
Tomato sauce
Barbecue sauce
Black Mamba Chipotle sauce
1 tomato thinly sliced
1 red onion thinly sliced
METHOD: š§Ŗ
1. Cut and flatten the fillet steak with a meat mallet until each steak is around 1cm thick.
2. Marinate the steak in fresh garlic, olive oil, red wine, salt, black pepper and fresh thyme. Leave to marinate for at least 30 minute but preferably up to 24 hours covered in the fridge.
3. Prepare special Prego sauce by adding 6 tbsp BBQ sauce, 4 tbsp tomato sauce and 3 tbsp black mamba chipotle hot sauce into a bowl. Mix well and set aside.
4. Once marinated, place on the braai or heat a skillet on high heat then cook the steaks quickly on both sides until caramelized and cooked to your desired doneness. Remove from the heat and allow to rest for 5 minutes.
5. Toast your roll in a pan or on the braai until crispy and slightly charred, add in the cooked steak and top with the prego sauce from step 3. Serve your prego with freshly sliced tomato and red onion.
